contemporary fine art in fused glass

Growing up as an only child on an eastern Colorado cattle ranch afforded Denise Bohart Brown a lot of opportunities for imaginary and creative exploration. She has spent a lifetime exploring different mediums, but it is her work in fused glass that has been her main focus much of the past 17 years. Her designs, often abstract in nature, are inspired by the natural world in both the Colorado mountains that she calls home, and also from travels around the US and beyond. Her kiln-fired creations often incorporate elements that lend a feel of movement and flow to a medium that can feel very solid and static. The number of firings and timing of the addition of glass all combine with the design to achieve the end result: a contemporary art piece that stimulates the senses and inspires the mind.
