My fascination with water extends to what is below the surface, as well – whether in rivers, lakes or oceans, the whole largely unseen world is rather magical to me – partly because while I am drawn to water, I don’t particularly like being IN anything larger than a hot tub, so it is a source of mystery to me. This piece has texture and flow, contrasts in color and feel – there is much to see and explore here. The silver is created as a result of the firing – combining a reactive glass with a catalyst causes the blue to shift to silver in the nearly 1500° kiln… clearly science, and yet mysterious to me, much like the underwater world.
